Why I built it
When Forever was announced I did what everyone did: opened six tabs, a spreadsheet and a Discord, and tried to work out what my first character should be. Half the talent calculators were missing ranks. The ones with ranks had no Classic text to compare against. Dungeon pages listed bosses but not the quests you need to grab before you zone in, which is the thing you actually forget. I kept thinking "someone should put all of this in one place and make it work on a phone in the login queue." So I did.
This site is the tool I wanted at the character screen: every talent, every rank, the Classic tooltip right beside it, builds you can load and change, and the world stuff I keep looking up. It is free and there is no account. Your builds save in your own browser and you share them with a link.
What's actually here
- A talent builder for all nine classes with every rank's tooltip and the Classic 1.12 text next to it. Row gates and prerequisites work like the game, so you cannot make a build that would be illegal at the trainer.
- A build library I keep adding to. Every build is replayed through the same rules the builder enforces before it goes up.
- A Legacy planner, a leveling route planner, and reference for dungeons, raids, quests, items, zones, professions, PvP, races, hunter pets and the library books.
- Guides that are short on purpose. I write down what is confirmed, what I read from the client, and what players reported, and I say which is which.
Where the numbers come from
Talent, spellbook, racial and Legacy data comes from the Talents Forever dataset, which is read from the game client and published under a Creative Commons licence. I normalise it, check it against Blizzard's development notes, and print the client build and snapshot date on every page so you know how fresh it is. Dungeon, quest and item records come from the beta and launch clients and from loot logs I could trace back to a tooltip. The full list with licences is on the data and sources page. None of it is Blizzard-verified, and a hotfix can change a number before my snapshot does. When that happens the changelog says what I fixed.
Money
The site costs me hosting and evenings. It may show ads to cover the hosting. Ads never change which data is shown or how builds are ordered, and I will never put the builder behind a login or a paywall.
Found something wrong?
Tell me. A wrong rank, a missing quest, a dead link, a build you think is better than mine. The contact page says what to include so I can fix it fast, and I credit people who send corrections.
