Restrictions
Blizzard confirmed that the in-combat addon limits from retail's Midnight expansion apply to Forever: no combat calculations, no automated marking or communication during fights. The beta also hid exact health values from the API and removed several secure snippets. Expect meters and boss mods to work with reduced precision until their authors adapt.
Safety
- Download only from CurseForge, Wago, the author's GitHub or the author's site. "Forever addon packs" from elsewhere are a common malware vector.
- Addons must be free under Blizzard's UI add-on policy.
- If an addon asks for your Battle.net login, it is not an addon.
Keybinds reset in the beta for some players; the fix was making the WTF folder read-only after setting them. Gamepad support is built in; see requirements and controllers.
Questions players ask
Do Classic addons work in WoW Forever?
Many need an update. Forever is a separate client with secret health values and other API changes found in the beta, and the combat restrictions from retail's Midnight apply: addons that calculate or automate marking and communication in combat are blocked. Check each addon's page for a Forever version.
Where do I install addons?
Unzip the folder into the Forever client's Interface/AddOns directory. Addons are folders of text and image files; you never need an installer, and never enter your Battle.net login into an addon or addon site.
