The plan
- 1–20: two gathering professions from the first trainer. Sell greys. Check Waylaid Crates before vendoring copper, tin, linen or light leather.
- 20–40: save for riding. Skip rarely used spell ranks. Hold materials for a few days after launch; day-one listings sell under value.
- 40–50: sell materials, not green gear. Bags (Tailoring) and potions (Alchemy) sell steadily.
- 50–60: stockpile high-level materials for raid consumables before 9 December.
Legacy perks that save gold
- Bartering: vendor prices down to 10% at 2 ranks.
- Reinforce: less durability loss on death.
- Reagent Economy: class abilities stop needing vendor reagents (tier-1 camp features are no longer free though).
- Personal Banking: innkeepers open your bank.
Not announced: auction house cut and deposit rates, exact riding training prices, Favor payouts per crate and gold-per-hour above level 30.
Questions players ask
How much gold do I need for riding?
About 100 gold in total at level 40 (training plus your race's mount, reported from the beta) and 900 to 1,000 gold at 60. Honored with your home city takes 10% off; the Bartering Legacy perk up to 10% off vendor mounts.
How much does training cost?
About 206 to 207 gold from 1 to 60 for every class after the launch rebalance; Warlocks pay a little less to offset pet Grimoires. Skip spell ranks you will not use.
Can I buy gold?
No. Blizzard has been closing Forever accounts over bought gold, takes the gold back and says it has been too lenient. Every number on this page is earnable in a normal leveling run.
