Crates
Thirty crates in four tiers: Apprentice (level 10+), Journeyman (10+), Expert (20+) and Artisan (35+). Each tier has crafting crates (fabrics, ingots, parts, which need the matching profession) and gathering crates (herbs, ore, textiles, curiosities, raw materials only). Example: a Waylaid Crate: Apprentice Ingots takes 20 Copper Bar, or 20 Tin Bar, or 10 Bronze Bar. Known beta bugs: crates refusing stacks smaller than the requested amount, and an Apprentice Curiosities crate asking for the wrong essence; Blizzard listed both as fixed.
What Favor buys
- About 320 items priced from 30 to 1,500 Favor: profession recipes (mostly bind-on-pickup gear), rare crafted gear for Tailoring and Blacksmithing, Enchanting totems, librams and idols, new Alchemy potions and elixirs, a tabard, profession supply packs, a toy quest item and a mount.
- Six crafting Certifications at 1,000 Favor each, unlocking about 33 recipes in total.
- Craftsman's Writs: 150 crafting orders in four tiers usable from level 10, a buyer outside the auction house.
Before you vendor anything
Check whether a crate wants it. Copper and tin bars, light leather, linen and early herbs are worth more as Favor than as silver. Gathering crates need no profession, so even a pure crafter can fill them with auction-house materials when prices dip.
Legacy perks
Performance Bonus (Professions tree) gives a chance of extra Favor per hand-in; Bountiful Harvest raises the chance of scarce materials from gathering; Master Chef improves cooking output. See the Professions tree.
