Requirements
- Install: about 128 GB on an SSD.
- GPU: the beta introduced an architecture cut-off; cards older than the minimum could not start the client. Update drivers before launch.
- Models: choose SD (Classic) or HD at first login; HD uses restored Classic animations.
- Expensive settings: Secondary Lighting, volumetric fog and water quality. Turning down Secondary Lighting fixed most AMD driver crashes and Mac freezes in the beta.
Common errors
- #109 / #132 on startup or loading: update the graphics driver, disable Secondary Lighting, run Battle.net's Scan and Repair.
- Greyed-out Install button: restart Battle.net or switch region and back.
- Keybinds reset: set them, then make the WTF folder read-only. Account versus character bindings and the Shaman totem bar were the usual culprits.
- Long maintenance before launch: expected; the beta also had hours-long queues and regional rerouting on day one.
Controllers
Enable gamepad support in the options. The launch notes list fixes across movement, spell casting, UI navigation, targeting, bags and more. Keyboard and mouse remain the reference layout for addons.
Questions players ask
Does WoW Forever run on Mac?
Yes, Windows and macOS are supported through Battle.net, Apple Silicon included. The beta had a freeze on some Macs fixed by disabling Secondary Lighting.
Does it support controllers?
Yes. Blizzard calls gamepad support fully functional at launch: movement, spells, UI navigation, targeting, bags and more. It was marked alpha at BlizzCon and improved through the beta.
Is it on Xbox or Steam Deck?
Not on Xbox in November (Xbox UK confirmed). Steam Deck is not officially supported but runs Battle.net through Proton; some players hit a loading-screen freeze fixed by the same lighting setting.
