New systems

Legacy · Legacy system

Legacy is what you progress toward in Forever once a character is capped. You earn Legacy Points by completing 65 challenges in six categories: exploring, leveling classes to 25, 45 and 60, raising tradeskills, earning PvP ranks, maximizing reputations, and clearing dungeons and raids. Points are account-wide across rulesets (Hardcore excepted), and each character spends up to 16 of them in its own three perk trees, with gates at 5 and 10 points. The panel appears when you earn your first point: a character reaches 25, a non-gathering primary profession hits 150, or you explore the whole world map.

Legacy perks and challenges · Legacy planner · Legacy system guide

Legacy Points

Each of the 65 Legacy challenges awards one Legacy Point, and three of the PvP season-journey quests award one more. Points belong to the account, but every character can spend at most 16 of them, so after 16 the extra points only matter for the reward track. Challenges completed outside Hardcore do not count inside it; challenges earned in Hardcore count everywhere.

All 65 challenges

Legacy perks

Twenty-one perks in three trees. A first character usually takes Talented (talent points from level 5 on alts), Well Rested and Thrill of Adventure, then the gold perks Bartering (vendor prices down to 10% off at two ranks), Reinforce (less durability loss on death) and Reagent Economy (class abilities stop needing vendor reagents), then Performance Bonus and Bountiful Harvest once you craft. Perks are changed at a class trainer with Legacy reset charges that return one per week, so plan them per character rather than per dungeon.

Plan your perks · Respec charges

Camping

Light a fire, build features around it, and everyone sitting nearby gets buffs that used to need a full group or a trip to town. Tier-1 features cost materials; higher tiers are portable crafting stations such as the Anvil, Loom, Alchemy Laboratory and Arcane Forge. Every profession, including Herbalism, Mining, Fishing and First Aid, contributes a feature, and some high-end stations come from dungeons and raids. The Camp Tent lifts rested XP to 5% of a level.

Camping guide · Camp features by profession

Camp features

Crafting stations (Anvil, Master Forge, Loom, Sewing Machine, Alchemy Laboratory, Arcane Forge, Molten Foundry, Anarchist's Workbench, Iron Oven), service bots (the Engineering Reagent Bot sells reagents, the Repair Bot repairs for everyone), gathering features (Greenhouse, Seed Hybridizer, Rock Garden), fishing features (Fishing Rack, Fishing Hut) and odds and ends such as the Arcane Salvager, Field Guide, Trapper's Workbench, Cookie's Feast and the Camp Tent. A Fish Bowl and an Enchanted Lute at the fire give a solo player buffs close to having a Paladin and a Druid along.

Every feature by profession

Found photographs

Blizzard describes Forever's hidden content as found photographs: things placed in the world to be discovered and shared rather than announced. The Cozy Sleeping Bag chain, the Riverglades black market, the library books, the serpent form for Druids in the full Fang set and the legendary Bough of the World Tree chain are the known examples.

Places and content

Ley lines

Ley lines are visible veins of arcane energy that run through parts of Azeroth, the glowing blue rivers of the reveal cinematic. A Skyborne who uses Read Leyline while standing at one gains the hour-long Attuned version of the racial, which doubles regeneration. The buff survives death and is removed on entering a raid.

Skyborne racials · Ley line wallpaper

Elemental convergences

Using Skysight at an elemental convergence gives a Skyborne the Charged version of the racial: 30% movement speed for an hour instead of 15%. Like Attuned, the buff survives death and drops when you enter a raid.

Skyborne racials

Zephras Isle

A floating isle held in the sky by great chains, with its own map on the elemental plane. Skyborne of both factions start here and leave around level 12. It is the setting of most of the reveal cinematic.

The Riverglades

A contested zone of rivers, lakes and Alliance-style towns, home to the Krol'Dok Stronghold dungeon (40–45) and a goblin black-market vendor who caps the price of rare crafting materials and sells the Gift of Galloping mounted-speed buff.

Shen'dralas

A night-elf forest zone added for max-level play. Its level band is listed as 60 and unconfirmed in the client data we have.

Shen'dralas zone page

Mount Hyjal

Hyjal is open in Forever as a level-60 zone beneath Nordrassil. Barrow Deeps, the 10-player raid, is inside the mountain with entrances from Hyjal, Winterspring and Blackmaw Hold; Hyjal Summit, the 20-player raid, is at the top. Both open on 9 December.

Barrow Deeps

A cavern raid beneath Hyjal with ice, fungal and spider wings. Entrances from Mount Hyjal, Winterspring and the Blackmaw Hold dungeon. Weekly reset, unlocking with the other two raids on 9 December 2026.

Hyjal Summit

The summit of Mount Hyjal at the foot of the world tree, tuned for 20 players. It opens on 9 December with Barrow Deeps and Onyxia's Lair, each on a weekly reset.

Darkspear Islands

A capture-the-objectives battleground on the ceremonial islands of the Darkspear tribe off the coast of Kalimdor. Fifteen per side, in the random queue and Call to Arms rotation alongside Warsong Gulch and Arathi Basin, with its own Legacy challenge, Master of Darkspear Islands.

Library books

Thirty-nine books have reported locations. Hand them to Garion Wendell in Stormwind or Owen Thadd in Undercity. Ten books give a neck piece, twenty a ring, and twenty-five a bow, shield or off-hand; the first tier lost about half its stats in an October retune.

Raid unlock (9 December)

All three launch raids unlock on 9 December 2026 with weekly resets: Barrow Deeps for 10 players, Hyjal Summit for 20 and Onyxia's Lair for 40, the last requiring the Drakefire Amulet. Blizzard plans no major class tuning before then beyond bugs and serious outliers.

Characters, talents and races

Talented

Talented is a five-rank Legacy perk. Each rank moves the first talent point one level earlier, so at 5/5 an alt earns points from level 5 instead of 10 and has five extra points through the early levels. It works because Forever's trees run on tier gates by points spent, not by level. The talent calculators have a First point at setting to plan a Talented character.

Talent calculators · Legacy perks

Skyborne

The Skyborne come from Zephras Isle, a floating zone of their own, and can join either faction. They come in two variants, High Order and Windshaper. Their launch racials are Wind Blessed (2% haste), Read Leyline (50% regeneration for 15 seconds, or 100% for an hour after use at a ley line), Skysight (15% movement speed, or 30% for an hour after use at an elemental convergence) and Walk on Air on a 90-second cooldown. The race is part of the Skyborne packs rather than the base subscription.

Dual specialization

Unlocks at 40 for 10 gold. Swap freely outside combat and battlegrounds; each spec keeps its own action bars. Common pairs: Retribution and Holy, Feral and Restoration, Fury and Protection, Shadow and Discipline, Frost and Fire. Use it for role changes and keep respecs for real build changes.

Dual spec and respecs · Endgame builds for every spec

Respec charges

Two hidden currencies track recent talent resets and recent Legacy resets, each capped at 10 charges. Class charges return every hour, Legacy charges every week. The reset price is cheap while you have charges and climbs when you churn, which is why Legacy is best treated as a per-character plan.

Dual spec and respecs

16-point milestone

Forever's trees keep Classic's milestone talents at 11, 21 and 31 points and add one at 16. Under the hood the trees use the modern trait system with gates every five points spent, which is also what lets the Talented perk start points at level 5.

See the rows in the calculator · All class changes

Galestrider

Both Alliance and Horde Skyborne ride the Galestrider, bought with riding training like any racial mount. Other races can buy it at Exalted with the Skyborne home city. The Skyborne packs add the Cerulean Prideclaw as a cosmetic mount.

Every mount by race

Marks of Honor

Each battleground awards its own Mark of Honor. The 15 October build raised the stack size to 30, so you can bank marks for the reputation and gear turn-ins without running out of bag space.

PvP and honor

Servers and rules

Rulesets

Instead of picking a realm you pick a ruleset. Normal, PvP, Roleplay and Roleplay-PvP launched on 4 November; Hardcore follows in winter. Dungeons, raids and parties stay within one faction and one ruleset, battlegrounds can mix rulesets except Hardcore, each ruleset has its own auction house, and gold cannot be mailed across rulesets. Agree on a faction and a ruleset with friends before anyone presses Create.

Rulesets and servers guide

Realmless

Forever has no realm list. Each region runs one world per ruleset, and crowded areas are split into layers. Friends can land on different layers at zone lines and boats; inviting someone to a party pulls them onto the leader's layer. Collections and Legacy Points are account-wide, and the Preferred Online Language option groups you with players of your language.

How layers and regions work · Queues and status

Layers

When a zone fills up, Forever splits it into layers. You can end up on a different layer from a friend after a zone line or a boat; joining their party moves you to the party leader's layer. Layers are how a realmless game copes with launch-week crowds without separate servers.

Rulesets and servers

Hardcore

Hardcore is the ruleset where death is permanent. It was not available at the 4 November launch and is scheduled for winter. Its characters cannot queue into mixed-ruleset battlegrounds, Legacy challenges completed elsewhere do not count inside it, and twelve Hardcore-only challenges replace the PvP ones. Challenges earned in Hardcore count everywhere.

All rulesets · Legacy challenges

Preferred Online Language

A client option with a 24-hour cooldown that puts you on layers and in matchmaking with players who chose the same language. Useful on the European world, which is shared across countries.

Rulesets and servers

Skyborne packs

Forever itself is part of a normal subscription. The Skyborne Heroic and Epic packs, the Warcraft Forever Collection and the Collector's Edition add the Skyborne race and Zephras Isle, cosmetics such as the Veteran Adventurer's Rucksack and Outdoor Wear, the Shen'dorei Windwell toy, the Veteran Adventurer's Loyal Companion mount, early name reservation and Invite-A-Friend codes. Nothing in them affects power.

Editions and price · The Skyborne race

Two-name characters

Forever characters carry a first and a last name, and the pair must be unique per region rather than the first name being unique per realm. Name reservation ran from 27 October to 3 November for pack holders, three characters per account across all rulesets.

Launch guide · Name reservation news

Quitter debuff

Set to 40 seconds in the 2 November development notes. It discourages dropping a dungeon group or battleground the moment it looks bad.

Gold, professions and items

Merchant's Favor

Fill a Waylaid Crate with one of the bundles on its label, hand it to your faction's merchants and you get Favor instead of vendor silver. About 320 items cost 30 to 1,500 Favor: profession recipes, rare crafted gear, enchanting totems, librams and idols, new potions and elixirs, a tabard, supply packs, a toy and a mount. Six crafting Certifications at 1,000 Favor each unlock about 33 recipes. The Legacy perk Performance Bonus gives a chance of extra Favor per hand-in.

Merchant's Favor guide · Favor vendors

Waylaid Crates

Thirty crates in four tiers drop as ordinary loot from level 10: Apprentice and Journeyman (level 10+), Expert (20+) and Artisan (35+). Crafting crates want fabrics, ingots or parts and need the matching profession; gathering crates want raw herbs, ore, textiles or curiosities and need no profession. An Apprentice Ingots crate, for example, takes 20 Copper Bar, 20 Tin Bar or 10 Bronze Bar. Early materials are often worth more as Favor than as silver, so check crates before vendoring copper, tin, linen or light leather.

Crate list and bundles

Craftsman's Writs

One hundred and fifty crafting orders in four tiers, usable from level 10, that give crafters a buyer who is not the auction house. They sit alongside Waylaid Crates in the Merchant's Favor economy.

Cozy Sleeping Bag

The reward at the end of a five-zone questline carried over from Season of Discovery, with a jumping puzzle in Hillsbrad. Resting with the bag gives 1% XP per minute up to 3%, stacking with cooked food for 8%. The chain also gives a 12-slot bag and Student Fodder food. Worth running early.

The full questline

Riverglades black market

A vendor in the Riverglades who sells rare crafting materials at a price ceiling (from 20 gold each) and the Gift of Galloping buff for 150 gold. A separate Black Market Auction House exists in the beta files with its own location.

Secrets guide · The Riverglades

Gift of Galloping

Sold by the Riverglades black-market goblin. It stacks with the normal riding speed and is the only purchasable mounted-speed increase at launch besides the Legacy perk Frequent Flier, which only affects flight paths.

Mounts and riding

Riding at 40

Riding is learned at 40 and 60 and the mount comes with the training. Honored with your race's home city takes 10% off, and the Bartering Legacy perk takes up to another 10% off vendor mounts. Warlocks and Paladins get class mounts at 40 and 60 from quests; Forsaken Paladins have their own level-60 mount quest.
